1. We Don't Know the Price
If theres one thing that can stop a console dead in its tracks during launch, its price. As Sony found out when it launched the PS3, people arent willing to pay to above a certain price (lets say $400 for a really high end bundle), so why not get the price out there as soon as possible? Sure, it would make for a great E3 announcement and keeping the price secret would keep Microsoft from undercutting them for a while, but lets face it in this economy, people need all the time they can get to save up for a new system, plus games. We gamers are willing to put up with a lot of things with console launches fuzzy tech specs, being shown tech demos that probably will never turn into real games, and even not seeing the console itself but this is one case where concrete facts can do a better job of selling hardware than the prettiest trailer.
