PlayStation 4 Announcement: 10 New Features You Should Be Excited About

5. Quantic Dream's New Engine

After a few reveals that didn't do a whole lot for me, I let out a sigh of relief when Quantic Dream's David Cage showed up to demonstrate the new proprietary engine he'll be using to develop a new IP for the PS4. After comparing the graphical detail of his previous games, he unveils the first glimpse of his work on the PS4, a stunningly rendered model of an elderly man, easily the most photo-realistic human we've ever seen in the gaming world. Though only set against a black background, this was easily one of the conference's high-points, and given Cage's track record for immersive, cinematic gaming, this new technology can only further feed his imaginative vision. Now to see how that gorgeously rendered face looks in a real-time environment. We must see more soon.
