Smartphones are almost as essential as oxygen these days and the mobile gaming sector is worth untold billions.

Tapping into this trend, Nintendo has embraced the concept of playing anywhere with its latest flagship console the Switch, a bold and innovative move which appears to be paying off so far.

Given how mobile is ingrained in the current zeitgeist and considering the Switch's early success, could Sony attempt to follow in the Big N's footsteps by making the PS5 a more versatile beast?

Some appear to think so as artist Kevin Tan has drawn up a series of concept designs (via ps5playstation5.com) envisaging the PS5 as a Switch-esque powerhouse which is just as comfortable in the palm of your hand as it is beneath your TV.

It looks like the Vita has mated with a Swiss army knife, but it would certainly be interesting to see Sony attempt to beat Nintendo at its own game by pulling this off.
