PlayStation Now: 15 Massively Underrated Games You Must Play

1. XCOM: Enemy Within

For the top spot, the one game that remains the shiniest of hidden gems and the one you'll get sucked into almost immediately upon firing up. XCOM, son. X. Motherlovin'. COM. Like turn-based combat from the Final Fantasy's of old? Good. How about speccing your characters, customising them and getting a constant string of upgrades to really defend the Earth in style? Sound awesome? It is. XCOM casts you as an omnipotent Commander watching over one of Earth's last remaining bases, the goal being to repel the alien invasion that's sprouting up across the globe. You'll create and name a seemingly endless amount of troops to get the job done, giving them everything from specific abilities and armour sets, to biomechanically-augmented limbs and even the occasional superpower gained from studying the alien menace. Each battle makes you stronger and them weaker, but you'll have to keep the fight up as everything is contingent on resources and information. There's plenty more under the hood to get stuck into, and every player's experience and tactics out on-mission will be different - but that's the beauty of it. If you like to shoot and ask questions later... then analyse the answers and shoot with something bigger and better next time round, XCOM is the perfect game, and you'll get pulled in even deeper across every second.
