PlayStation Now: 15 Massively Underrated Games You Must Play
15. Darksiders & Darksiders II
The nearest comparison for the Darksiders games in terms of the feelings they evoke through such luxuriously gothic architecture and brilliantly memorable character designs, is like if Legacy of Kain's cutscenes, dialogue and tone meshed with a World of Warcraft graphics engine. The result is this gorgeously diverse franchise that had a first instalment many people wrote off as 'just another God of War clone', only for DS2 to implement one of the best loot-driven gear systems since Diablo III, coupling it with a more fleshed out combat system, very tactile and immediate platforming controls and a Metroidvania-style open-world. Seriously, the Darksiders games remain incredibly overlooked, with fans like me forever screaming from the rooftops so the rest of the world will take notice. October 2015 is seeing a re-release on PS4 with some spruced-up graphics and performance tweaks, so either grab DS1 and 2 on PS Now to see what you think, or hold out for the big release and add it to your collection for good.
