13. Resident Evil (PSOne)

Resident Evil was the start of the survival horror genre of games where the simple aim was to stay alive long enough to complete the story. With zombies, puzzles and even more monsters littered throughout a mysterious mansion, your mission was to find out where the rest of your team has gone. Resident Evil defined this genre and did it so incredibly well. It arguably hasn't been bested since. Scaring you half to death and throwing zombies at you, all while you are trying to find the clues to the next puzzle to solve, Resident Evil also featured multiple endings which changed depending how well you did. A rather innovative feature if I do say so myself. Released by Capcom in 1996, it provided pop culture with what it wanted most - a viable zombie-fightin' experience. The franchise was so successful that it spawned five feature length films, too. A great game and one to show the younger generation, for sure.
