5. Pocket Monsters Red And Green

If you think that there are only three versions of the original Pokémon mainline games with Red, Blue, and Yellow then you're in for a surprise. There are technically seven of them starting with the original versions, Pocket Monsters Red and Green.

Pocket Monsters Red and Green were only released in Japan and translate to Pokémon Red and Green although it's important to know that this Pokémon Red is different from the Pokémon Red we got in the west.

One of the most interesting differences is that the layout of Cerulean Cave is completely different than it is in all later gen one games.

What makes these games the worst of the gen one mainline games is that they're much more buggy and the sprites are mostly awful.

Of course, differences also exist between Pocket Monsters Red and Pocket Monsters Green. Red is missing Sandshrew, Sandslash, Vulpix, Ninetales, Meowth, Persian, Bellsprout, Weepinbell, Victreebel, Magmar, and Pinsir whilst Green is missing Ekans, Arbok, Oddish, Gloom, Vileplume, Mankey, Primeape, Growlithe, Arcanine, Scyther, and Electabuzz.

That and if you play them on a Game Boy Colour, Pocket Monsters Red will have a red colour palette whilst Green will have a green palette.
