Pokémon: Every Gen 1 Game Ranked
14. Hey You, Pikachu!
Playing Hey You, Pikachu! genuinely makes you feel like you've gone insane. You'll spend hours just screaming at your television hoping that Pikachu will just do what you say.
Having a virtual pet not always listen to you can be an effective way of making them feel like a living creature and if the mic worked perfectly here then the times where Pikachu doesn't listen would be infrequent enough to not be that annoying.
The problem is the mic barely works so when it finally does the last thing you want is for Pikachu to ignore you.
But what do you do in Hey You, Pikachu!?
You hang out with Pikachu and get him to do simple tasks. This sounds quite relaxing on paper but because of Pikachu's apparent deafness and ignorance, it's just frustrating.
The only thing that puts it above the far less stressful PokéROMs and Pokémon Play It! is that Hey You, Pikachu! is at least a full game and saying goodbye to Pikachu is actually quite a touching ending.
As much as you hate the yellow rat whilst playing you'll have definitely developed some kind of attachment to him by the end of it and saying goodbye is quite sad even if he does end up coming back.
