Pokémon: Every Gen 1 Game Ranked

13. Pocket Monsters Stadium

What we know as Pokémon Stadium is actually Pokémon Stadium 2 in Japan, we never got the first entry as it is genuinely awful and feels like a tech demo more than an actual game.

This unfinished feeling title doesn't have any of the fun mini-games from the sequel, basically every mode requires you to connect a copy of a mainline generation one game to play, and it doesn't even have every Pokémon, it only has 40 of them.

The appeal of the Pokémon Stadium games is getting to see your Pokémon fight in 3D, and that's kind of lost when well over two-thirds of the creatures are barred from entry.

The weirdest thing is, there are 3D models for all 151 gen one Pokémon in a model viewer found in this game. You'd think if you went through the effort of making a model for every Pokémon they'd make them all playable. Well, apparently they were going to be playable in a cancelled Nintendo 64DD expansion disc.

So yeah Sword and Shield weren't the first time they locked Pokémon behind DLC although at least The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra got released.
