Pokemon: Every Main Game Ranked Worst To Best
6. Gen Six - Pokemon X & Y
The main series' first 3D outing generated a lot of hype when it was first announced, but this deflated rather quickly when it became apparent that, despite the games' new visual direction, this was essentially still the same top-down, relatively limited gameplay that featured in previous entries in the franchise.
While the game's style was charming in its own right, few things can match the gorgeous 2D visuals perfected in the series' DS titles. The graphics would undergo some improvement for Sun & Moon, but Pokemon's first outing on the 3DS won't age as well as its top-down counterparts.
After the blank slate that was Pokemon for Black & White, it was also something of a disappointment to see so much reliance on Pokemon from previous entries in the franchise here, with only 72 new Pokemon added to the mix -- including some of the series' most questionable designs to date (Honedge and Klefki, anyone?).
