Pokemon: Every Main Game Ranked Worst To Best

Seven generations into the franchise, Pokemon Sun & Moon wins some points for daring to do something different, giving the series a much-needed shake-up and turning long-term players' expectations of Pokemon games on their head.

Unfortunately, not all of the changes to Sun & Moon were for the best. Axing HMs to get around, freeing up some much-needed move space, was a stroke of genius, but the decision to swap out the series' traditional Gyms for Trials did the game more harm than good.

While the Trials served to vary the gameplay a bit, these sometimes arbitrary puzzles felt rather removed from the actual gameplay. Some variation is always welcome in Pokemon, but this is best done through side-activities such as in-game fashion shows than in the main story itself.
