3. Gyms Have Had The Tedium Removed
With the most recent and most comprehensive update for the game, Pokemon GO seems to finally be nailing the concept of gyms by lifting more directly from the core franchise.
Rather than a variable number of Pokemon to defend the gym based on prestige, it is now a solid six - but each must be unique, and each Pokemon’s power is depleted as it loses motivation by losing battles.
It can be restored
if you or a team member feeds it berries, but once it hits 0, it’s out the gym.
The downside is that no matter how many gyms you control, you can only earn up to 50 coins a day, once you lose control of the gym, as opposed to the cumulative daily drop the previous system had. Still, we get colourful badges and team bonuses for controlling a gym-based Pokestop.
