Pokémon GO 2018: 14 NEW Tips & Tricks The Game Doesn't Tell You

13. The Same Pokémon Can Have Different Moves (And You Can Change Them)

Something I didn't notice until very recently: Even if you've caught a number of the same creature, their actual movesets can be different.

Essential for gaining the upper hand in gym battles (especially as elemental type and classes are now factored in), tapping your pokemon in the viewer will let you see which abilities it has.

Watch out for class-specific attacks matching up with the Pokemon itself (like a Bulbasaur having Leaf Attack) as a good type/move combo makes the most of a beast's CP. You don't want Cloister having Body Slam, for example, but you DO want one with an Ice Beam.

Brilliantly, you can change both the standard tap animation during battle, as well as the charged attack. Obtained through raid battles, a Fast TM will randomly generate a new tap attack, and a Charged TM does the same for your pokemon's powered-up move. Note, TMs do have level restrictions: 15 for a Fast TM to drop, and 25 for the Charged version.
