Pokémon Gold & Silver: 10 Best Gen 2 Pokémon
6. Crobat
Zubat has never been popular among Pokémon trainers. Though it had some use against low level Grass or Bug type gyms, it was only kept in a party of six as a last resort. As soon as another Pokémon came along Zubat was boxed and forgotten about.
However, the introduction of Crobat changed all this. It gave trainers a legitimate reason to keep going with a Zubat on their side.
Never mind the fact that it looks so devilish and cool, (aesthetics are important in Pokémon) Crobat boasted the speed and attack stats to be a genuine offensive powerhouse and an asset to any team looking to take on the Pokémon League challenge. With the ability to Fly, Crobat posed a threat to all the Pidgeots and Noctowls in Johto, whose opportunities were severely threatened by it's presence.
One of the best things about Crobat's introduction was its evolutionary path. Since it came from a Zubat, a Pokémon easily catchable towards the start of the game, it was a good way to get a strong Pokémon. It also meant that you had to look after your Zubat and Golbat like never before, since the only way Golbat would evolve was through friendship.
Crobat brought a lot to the Pokémon world, more than just speed and strength.
