Pokémon Presents: 5 Things We Learned
4. New Pokemon Snap Is Exactly What It Says On The Tin
New Pokemon Snap was the first upcoming game to be shown off in Pokemon Presents, and first impressions are...
It's a new Pokemon Snap. Which is, frankly, great news!
NPS appears to be a textbook case of evolution rather than revolution, as the core gameplay of the original Pokemon Snap looks to be largely unaltered. For those who never played the N64 classic, that means players can expect an on-rails tour through beautiful environments, where the aim is to use an assortment of tools to take the best possible photos of the wild Pokemon roaming the lands.
While some may feel disappointed that New Pokemon Snap isn't deviating more from the formula of the original, it's worth noting that the first Pokemon Snap will be twenty-two years old by the time the sequel arrives.
Three entire console generations have been and gone in the time it's taken Nintendo to follow up on the beloved original and, obscure PS3 game Afrika aside, none of those generations produced anything quite like the N64's virtual safari-em-up.
New Pokemon Snap may be more of the same, then, but after more than two decades of waiting that's all it really needs to be.
