Pokémon: Ranking The Starters Of All 6 Generations From Worst To Best
3. Turtwig
Topping the Grass Type starters in this list simply had to be Sinnoh's Turtwig. With the Grass Type starters being rejected as the weakest choice in their generation more often than not, Turtwig's impressive battling ability finally bucked this trend made it the most obvious choice to go with when Diamond & Pearl came around.
We've talked a lot about typing so far, so it's no surprise that it's around this that we find Turtwig's big strengths. Eventually becoming a dual Grass/Ground Type Pokémon as Torterra, this is the kind of Pokémon that you can really count on when the chips are down and you need to buy yourself some time to rethink and strategise.
Turtwig doesn't just become a shield, however, and its most powerful attacks can be truly devastating in battle as well. Stack one out with Earthquake, Wood Hammer and Leaf Storm and you've got yourself a beast to be reckoned with.
