5. The Ultra Beasts
Sweet merciful Arceus, these things could be the end
of us.
The Ultra Beasts seem to be taking the role of boss monsters in the game that Legendary Pokemon held before their over-saturation around the fourth generation.
What makes the Ultra Beasts stand above them is the sheer amount of stuff we don’t bloody know about them. Each is only referred to by a code name, such as UB-02 Absorption, rather than an actual name. They don’t have types revealed like traditional Pokemon, and it’s unknown if we can even catch them like every other Pokemon in the game.
It’s been confirmed that the benevolent Aether Foundation will be researching these terrifying creatures, and that they are a threat to people and Pokemon alike. We don’t know the true nature of these creatures. We don’t know where they came from. We don’t even know what the point of them is. And it’s very, very exciting to dive in to the mystery and challenge that I’m struggling to compare to anything we’ve seen before in Pokemon.
Well, maybe Shadow Pokemon. But you can’t draw purple lines around a Pokemon and honestly call it 'original', can you?
