The most recent trailer for Sun & Moon introduced players to exciting new forms for some of their favourite Pokémon from previous generations. In essence, it's because of the microclimates of the Alola region's islands and it means that these new forms are seeing Pokémon take on new statuses and abilities in certain areas.

Said trailer also confirmed an Ice Type Vulpix and an Ice/Steel Type Sandshrew (among others), meaning that these new forms are certainly interesting prospects. It seems that plenty more are expected to be added as well, and the new forms will continue their trend of adding interesting new combinations to battles.

Some accompanying promo art for the new trailer was found shortly after the footage debuted, giving a biography about the Fire Type captain, Kiawe. In the text about the eccentric new character it's confirmed that he works in unison with a Marowak. Many believe that this is an indication that Marowak will also be benefiting from an Alola form, and that this new version of the Pokémon will see it take on an exciting Fire Type as well as the usual Ground Type.
