Pokémon Sun & Moon: 10 Things It Must Lose From X & Y

9. Drop The Unnecessary Airborne Battles

One of the unfortunate side effects of having the anime series that runs alongside each new generation of the Pokémon games is that the events of one have a big effect on the other's. In the case of X & Y, the newly-introduced Sky Battles were drafted in to draw some more parity between the games and the accompanying TV episodes.

Sky Battles - unsurprisingly - involved airborne Pokémon battling it out high above ground. There was literally no other angle to this gimmick other than the fact that the vast majority of battlers were not eligible to compete, and it was a feature that just about tied up with a battle Ash has in the X & Y anime series.

These Sky Battles were an absolute ball-ache, and definitely not something to get excited about when you accidentally found yourself facing a ledge and challenging a Sky Trainer. Flying Type Pokémon already have their own airborne benefits within regular battles, so there's simply no need for this feature to appear again in Sun & Moon.
