Now that we know the arrival of Pokémon on Switch will kick-off a brand new adventure (and likely a new Generation to boot) the likelihood of fresh 'Mons to catch is a near-to 100 percent guarantee and you know what that means. Hordes and hordes of 'Fakemons' doing the rounds on the internet, claiming to be the opposite.

Given that the inclusion of three starter (one each for fire, water and grass-types) Pokémon is a tradition that Game Freak has yet to break in the mainline series, the guarantee of their inclusion from one Generation to the next makes it that much easier for budding character artists to create elaborate knock-offs year after year.

As of writing, one particularly convincing 'leak' that originated from 4Chan has since been debunked by the art's creator, but don't be so quick to shout fake with the inevitable deluge of leaks to come.

Game Freak has had to weather genuine security breaches in the past, the most recent of which outed the likeness of Sun & Moon's evolved starter forms prior to an official reveal, so the precedent is there. Just be sure to err on the side of caution.
