Pokémon Sword & Shield: 10 New Details You Need To Know
5. Super-Sized Pokémon (Dynamaxing)
Dynamaxing: Like Megas, only... not.
Each Generation seems to bring its own gimmick these days, and like Z-Moves this one appears to be much less restrictive than Megas, which are only available to a handful of popular Pokémon.
Rather than giving Pokémon a different, more threatening look, Dynamaxes just grow to absolutely huge sizes; check how Raichu dwarves the trainer in the image. For comparison, Raichu’s canon size is 2 foot 7.
Similar to Megas, you’ll only be able to use a Dynamax once per battle, and like Z-Moves they appear to be linked to your trainer’s bracelet. A Dynamaxed Pokémon’s moves each become much more powerful while the Dynamax is active.
The twist though is that a Dynamax will only last for three turns before shrinking to its natural size.
In those Raid battles, you’ll be taking on powerful Dynamaxed Pokémon too. Making things even more difficult is the fact only one of the four trainers battling can Dynamax themselves.
A lot of fans will still be wanting some new Megas, but this is fairly unlikely now, and while Dynamaxed Pokémons don’t come with new designs, they are at least open to all.
