Pokémon Sword & Shield: 10 Predictions Based On Galar’s Map

9. Regional Sableye

Back in the mines again, but this is the last time before venturing out into the wider map - promise.

As well as the coal mine aesthetic which could lead to the regional bird, the walls are lined with gemstones, which could make this the perfect place to encounter a Pokémon with a bit of cult status: Sableye.

Considering its whole deal is eating gems, it seems like a great fit. Then again, Sun & Moon found no place for Solrock or Lunatone, so who knows.

Sableye used to have a neat gimmick as a Dark Ghost, with zero weaknesses to any other type. Since Gen VI brought Fairy type though, that’s no longer true. With Alolan regionals introduced last time out, could Galar get some regionals of its own?

Sableye would need a new type, and there are a few contenders there. Rock and Ground are obvious ones from a mine, but with something toxic or mystical in the gems, Poison and Psychic have a shot too, maybe even Steel with iron ores.

Considering the sparkly nature of a potential regional redesign, it might even get the Fairy type to take on its original form.
