Pokémon Sword & Shield: 5 Confirmed Details (And 5 Predictions)
6. Know: The Starters
How exactly these three link to Galar paying homage to Great Britain will be covered in the next prediction, as for now we deal with the more concrete facts.
The three starters feature in the trailer and were given official artwork soon after, and as is tradition, stick to the classic Grass, Water, Fire dynamic. We have Grookey, a green little monkey, Sobble, an invisible, impish newt, and Scorbunny, an excitable bunny with large feet.
As far as starters go, they seem pretty run of the mill. None stand out as clear favourites, but then none seem like the dud to be avoided at all costs either. Without seeing their stats, evolutions or knowing what dual typing they may develop, it’s even harder to figure it out as this stage.
When the Sun and Moon starters were first revealed, Water type Popplio looked like a goofy misfit and Fire type Litten was sleek and subtle. By the time their final stages were revealed, Popplio was the gorgeous dual Fairy type Primarina and Litten was the fanbase splitting, overly humanised Incineroar. Grass type Rowlett went from cuddly to mysterious, but Grass has always done its own thing.
