5. Mudsdale

Mudsdale was already a potent defensive Pokémon in generation 7 thanks to its Stamina ability, which raises its defense every time it gets hit. With the introduction of Dynamaxing, Mudsdale now has even more tricks up its sleeve to become an unbreakable wall. By Dynamaxing, it immediately increases its defensive capabilities, but if it has a Steel-type move it can use the Max Steelspike move whilst Dynamaxed to raise its physical defense even further. Max Quake, on the other hand, shores up its more lacking special defense.

Another new trick Mudsdale gains access to is Body Press, a fighting-type move which bases its damage off the user's defense instead of its attack; given the potential boosts from Stamina and Max Steelspike, this gives Mudsdale a move with ever-increasing power. Body Press also translates into Max Knuckle when Dynamaxed, which raises its attack stat with each use.

With all these stat boosts at its disposal, Mudsdale is now an extremely adaptable wall with options to boost attack, defense and special defense as the situation demands. While its awful speed and lower special defense hold it back slightly, with the right setup this hardy horse is sure to stirrup trouble for your opponents.
