Pokémon Sword & Shield: Ranking Every New Pokémon So Far
1. Sobble
The best loved Pokémon are usually the ones who are the most expressive, so it should come as no surprise that Sobble jumped out to an early lead and has stayed there ever since.
The sad, shy Water type is just overflowing with nervous personality, and with Water already being one of the most popular of the 18 types, Sobble has proved to be a smash hit. Like Grookey and Scorbunny though, we won’t be able to judge it fully until the full evolutionary line has been revealed.
Taking some recent Water starters as an example, it’s clear things can change quite quickly once evolutions are brought into it. The slightly goofy Froakie and Popplio had people on the fence, but the awesome Greninja and beautiful Primarina changed all that.
Likewise, the cutesy Oshawott became the divisive Samurott, so it can go both ways. The popular theory is that the British setting will see Sobble as the Loch Ness Monster. This could be really cool, or could destroy Sobble’s cutesy goodwill; there’s no way of knowing.
With its invisibility getting focus though, a Water Psychic typing seems like it’s a distinct possibility for Sobble’s third stage.
