Pokémon Sword & Shield: Ranking Every New Pokémon So Far
13. Gossifleur
Gossifleur is the only pre evolution whose evolved form we’ve seen so far, so naturally it’s been a little overshadowed. Going back to Oddish and Bellsprout in Generation I, there’s often been multiple flower or plant inspired Pokémon, and by now it’s just much of a muchness.
There are some people who may latch on to Gossifleur’s design and take them to heart, and if it appears early it could definitely squirm onto a lot of trainers’ teams; especially those who don’t pick the Grass starter. Other than that though, it’s set to be just another Pokémon in the Galar region.
There’s nothing especially wrong with that though, it’s just the nature of the game. Pokémon like Grimer, Girafarig and Glameow have done similar jobs in their own generations, largely just taking up a Dex entry but standing out as a cult favourite for a niche following.
You don’t have to begin with G to be a member of the also rans club, by the way, but apparently it helps.
Also, for those who’ve been living under a rock, Gossifleur was used in the previous trailer to explain the evolution mechanic in the game. Not that anyone really needed it explained.
