Pokémon Sword & Shield: Ranking Every New Pokémon So Far

7. Dreadknaw

If you were to bunch all of the Pokémon up so far in categories (not typings, but groups based on their aesthetic and such), Dreadknaw would probably be on its own. That’s both a good and bad thing, and that’s why it sits near the centre of the list.

The positive is that by standing alone, it has a bit of unique appeal, unlike say, Gossifleur, who already seems like this Generation’s take on a fairly standard Pokémon.

However, the drawback is that Dreadknaw doesn’t slot into the roster as easily and feels like an outlier. We’re starting to get a decent idea of what Galar’s like, but Dreadknaw doesn’t really fit so far.

Dreadknaw was also one of three Pokémon to have a Gigamax form revealed in the trailer, but we didn’t get a great angle and it’s hard to judge it given a) we can’t say for certain what it looks like and b) we don’t have many things to compare it to.

Still, while Dreadknaw hasn’t blown the roof off, it looks to be a great addition to Galar that will no doubt feature in a decent amount of teams.
