Pokémon Sword And Shield Expansion Packs: 10 Features Fans Demand
1. The Pokeathlon
This one's for the HeartGold and SoulSilver fans.
The remakes of previous generations get by with the additional features added specifically for those games. In the case of the remakes for gen II, that feature was the Pokeathlon.
This was one of the greatest features ever put in a Pokémon game. Based off of Olympic events, there are five courses with three events each (with some overlap) to compete in. Based on the Pokémon's stats, they would be better at different courses-- speed, power, skill, stamina, and jump.
Every Pokémon could earn medals for each event, and aiming for course records as well as trophies for high scores and amount of medals added plenty of content. The Pokeathlon worked so well for the DS that it even spawned its own spinoff title called Pokémon Dash. Granted, that wasn't received very well, but the point is still there.
And the Switch isn't the DS. It has the touchscreen and the gyroscope, but it also has the joy-con controllers. Heck, this would be a chance to even incorporate the Pokeball accessory or the ring fit.
Yes, this would diminish the exclusivity of the Pokeathlon to HeartGold and SoulSilver, but Nintendo's insistence on different features for each generation stunts the potential this feature holds for Sword and Shield. Make this one happen.
