PS4: 10 Awesome Console Secrets EVERYONE Missed
7. Tweaking The Dualshock 4
Big, comfy, a step up from its tiny predecessor and chunky enough to beat someone to death with, the PlayStation 4’s controller holds some legitimate secrets.
First, did you know you can dim the brightness of the lightbar? Unfortunately, dim is the best you’ll be getting, but it’s a start.
Hold the home button and navigate
to adjust sound and devices. While
you’re there, you can also turn off the additional sound, as well as manually
powering down the controller itself. And if you’re really some kind of savage, you
could disable vibration.
Beyond battery saving options, the Dualshock 4 has another very cool trick up its sleeve: Motion controls. Of course, most players knew about the Sixaxis functionality that the Dualshock 3 brought to the table and the PS4’s controller possesses similar capabilities.
Now though, you’ll be able to utilise motion controls to type. It seems weird at first but when a keyboard is on screen, push in the right thumb stick and you can tilt your controller to position the cursor. It takes some getting used to but is much, much quicker than tapping the D-pad.
