PS4: 10 Crucial Features Sony Must Implement In 2016

2. Turn Off Controller Light Completely

With PlayStation VR set to launch in a matter of months, we could finally see a purpose to those kind-of slick but otherwise superfluous neon lights on our PS4 controllers. But even when VR does arrive, can't we just turn out the lights when we're not using the headset to preserve battery and not get glare on our TV screens? Sony added an option to dim the lights on the controllers, so surely it's not unthinkable that they could let us go a step further and turn them off altogether - or would that be too much of an admittance that the controller design is flawed? It's ok, Sony, nothing will ever be as bad as the Sixaxis-instead-of-dual-shock mess. At the very least, when the PS4 is in rest mode we shouldn't have to have our rooms illuminated by an orange light radiating from the controller. "But how will we know which controller belongs to which player?", you may ask. Just get people to press some buttons and see what happens on screen. It's really not that much of a logistical nightmare, and let's face it, using random-coloured lights isn't exactly the most enlightened way of depicting player numbers either.
