PS4: 10 Features Sony Must Implement In The Next Firmware Update

1. A Boot-Up Animation & Different Menu Music

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qg0BvV0HE4s Listen to that. Pure bliss, right? With the general sensibility behind the new machines being that of speed and accessibility, they've left out something so subtly endearing you didn't even realise how impactful it was until you remember years later; the boot-up noise. PS2 owners will remember the purple space-gas look of the second console that slowly filled up with cubes depending on how many saves you had, and the PS3's operatic string section eased you in too. For the PS4 it's a little jingle then you're in; a cold welcomer to an even colder XMB, further reinforced by some peaceful-yet-listless background music that grates on you after a few hours. Bring back the boot-up animation - do it as a two year addition or something if you must. Keep it optional for those who'll decree the precious seconds their losing are 'destroying their console experience', and change up the options for the background music too. Something like the gorgeous scores of Bastion, Titan Souls or even Hotline Miami 2's occasionally more subdued moments would go down a treat, and that's if you don't want to throw something more energetic instead - the option to either use our own music or choose from a selection of Sony-approved instrumentals (or scores) should be there regardless. What feature are you waiting on the most for the PS4? (and try to restrain yourself from shouting "more games!") Let us know in the comments!
