5. It's A More Social Platform Than Ever
One of the major issues with the PS3 was that the online aspects just couldn't at all measure up to the Xbox 720's paid Xbox Live service. Sony's PSN stumbled at so many hurdles, failing to offer players even basic features like a party chat system, and their PlayStation Home social hub never really took off because the competition just trumped them so profoundly. Sony's PlayStation Meeting wanted to make it clear that the PS4 is going to be focused on social gaming more than ever, and though we don't know specifics about a subscription model, what they showed off looked very impressive indeed. The PS4 controller now comes with a "Share" button, which allows players to instantly stream their gameplay to their user hub, so friends and other players can watch, comment, and even, most impressively, take over play if you're stuck on a section. We can only assume that party functions will be the norm, and after receiving so much criticism for the PS3's lack of social features, the PS4 is set to face Microsoft head-on.
