PS4: 5 Predictions About Its Lifespan

4. This Generation Will Be The Death of Motion Control

playstation eye image People, as a rule, don't play video games to get exercise. If they want to exercise, they go to the gym or play a sport. They don't think "boy, I feel fat, better fire up the ol' console and burn a few calories!" Some games have managed to implement motion controls in a way that have been usable - sometimes outright good - but this generation is going to be the one that sees the balloon burst. Sony and Microsoft have been hell-bent on forcing this technology down the throats of consumers, but few have ever asked for it and even fewer heap praise on it. That means something has to give. When motion control in games doesn't markedly improve and critics and audiences refuse to ignore that fact, the developers are finally going to come to their senses. They'll see that the research, development, and promotion of motion control simply isn't right for this generation and they'll shelf it until they can do it right. I hope.
