1. The Playstation 5 Will Drop in 2020
Playstation: 1994. Playstation 2: 2000. Playstation 3: 2006. Playstation 4: 2013. That's how things have looked in terms of the Sony console releases to date. Since they got in the game (so to speak) in 1994, it's been around six years for them to run a console through its paces. This time out it took seven, and though I have literally no science to support this, here's my theory: with the advances in technology that happen over the course of a console's lifespan, it may take a little longer to properly develop a new iteration in coming generations. For that reason, I'm going to predict a late-2020 release date for the Playstation 5, with the potential for it to be pushed into 2021 if need be. By that time we'll have seen at least one masterful incarnation of Uncharted, the death of motion controls, some ho-hum sports games, and the rise of console apps. Who knows what else? That's half the fun of a new console launching though: all we can do is make predictions and see what happens. Good thing there are games to kill the time while we're waiting.
