2. Apps Will Define This Generation
The first notable difference I saw on the PS4 was the liberal use of the term "application" whenever I did anything. Games are considered applications. Listening to music is an application. Video applications are...well...applications. We live in an app world. If you can think of something, there's an app for it. That's going to define this generation of gaming as well. By the time the PS4 is in full swing as the premiere game console in operation, it's conceivable that applications will be the key to everything we're doing. The aforementioned examples are only the beginning considering that technological capacity will only improve over the lifespan of the console. Anything from live streaming game apps to business apps and everything in between seem plausible to me. There actually isn't a thing I can think of that seems too outrageous, especially considering the precedent of rapid growth of applications in the smartphone sphere. Let's just hope they don't overshadow the PS4 as a gaming console first and foremost, as that was perhaps
its greatest appeal in the lead-up to launch.
