PS4: 9 Big Changes PlayStation Plus Desperately Needs

5. Open/Exclusive Beta Access For Members

For whatever reason, betas are the new demos (feel free to find a distinction in there somewhere, it has to do with a beta getting away with having more bugs), however, they tend to be fairly anti-consumer, asking that you pre-order a title before getting to play any healthy amount of it. Back in the day you'd expect to play a demo for pretty much every upcoming game, whether short or long, you'd have some idea of where your money was going. The lack of widespread demos and selective betas is part and parcel of why there's currently so much negativity towards the current generation of consoles. Games cost more than ever when you factor in DLC, are buggier than they've ever been, and come off the back of hype-spewing PR cycles with no substance until launch day. One really cool way to remedy this would be getting those who've coughed up the cash for a PS Plus account to gain access to any beta automatically. They could even be exclusive betas for PS Plus members before the worldwide 'open' one, or simply guaranteed access into something the rest of the world has to pre-order for. Bottom line is it feels weird to jump through unnecessary hoops just to play something that used to be handed out for free, and any way to remedy that would be most appreciated.
