PS4: 9 Big Changes PlayStation Plus Desperately Needs
6. Some Level Of PlayStation Now Functionality Included
Have you tried PS Now? It's a brilliant idea, but by personal experience has been littered with laggy button-presses and shifting visual fidelity depending on how many people are playing worldwide at the time. Like the Kinect's functionality, it's something that needed to work 100% of the time, right out of the box. It's definitely a feature that could be a major boon to owning a PS4, as do away with the need to have physical copies of games and simply have a 'Play Now' option over everything from Infamous to Jak & Daxter, and you've got a winner. Sony continue to push it as the 'Netflix for games' fans would love... but getting your hands on the games themselves means paying absolutely ludicrous amounts for games you can buy in person for a tenth of the price. To remedy this, and to get the merits of the service in front of more people, surely paying the yearly fee of PS Plus should come with some level of PS Now access? Naturally it would require Sony to take a cut in profit, as I guarantee there are some people out there still paying for the service, otherwise it wouldn't be such a prominent feature of the PS Store's menu. The only reason Sony have the gall to charge for PS Plus and Now separately is down to owning such a large share of the market, and although that will change if Nintendo and Microsoft up their collective game, how about we see that whole "For the players" ideology put to better use?
