PS4: 9 Major Problems Sony Face In 2016
1. Will Sony Ever Get Involved In The Quality Control Of What's On Their System?
Do you know why Xbox Live Arcade really took off? Because Microsoft demanded one specific thing: Each and every game must have a playable, working demo, representative of the final product. This not only ensured we all knew what we were getting before putting down any coin, but showed a solid level of confidence in the developers themselves.
Microsoft knew quality would shine through, and put the power in the hands of the consumer.
Switch gears to the current generation, and yes this is a question for both Microsoft and Sony to contend with, but at what stage do they step in and demand a higher class of game on their system? It's one thing for Ubisoft to greenlight the abominable state Assassin's Creed: Unity was in at launch, but it's another entirely for the system it's being played on to still get that same free pass.
Demos have fallen by the wayside as the assumption goes that you'll just pay huge amounts instead. Services like Xbox Live Arcade or PlayStation Minis have also been forgotten, as both companies tend to operate more like Valve does with Steam - a conduit to link you with developers and their products. Nothing more.
Let's be very clear: 2016 has been absolutely outstanding so far, but you can't deny that if the people in charge of where these games were being showcased put their foot down and demanded better, it would get done.
