PS4 Vs. Xbox One: Which Console Won E3 2016?
3. Presentations
E3 is as much about how you show off your fancy new products, as it is about what you're showing off.
Sony had a full orchestra introduce their conference with what in hindsight was probably a piece of the soundtrack from the new God of War game. It was weird and majestic at the same time, and flowed straight into footage of Kratos' latest outing. No messing around at all from Sony, no marketing spiel. Having Hideo Kojima come onstage to give a brief broken-English intro to his latest game, Death Stranding, sent shivers up the spine, and only really the new IP Days Gone felt a little anti-climactic.
Microsoft, on the other hand, kept things relatively corporate, though not in an all-bad way. Introducing their conference with the Xbox One S showed their determination to start afresh, and showing off Gears of War 4 with Xbox Play Anywhere left jaws pretty close to the floor.
Barring exclusive titles (which I'll get to in a second), the conference perhaps talked a little too much about tweaks to Xbox Live to be really exciting, but concluding with revealing the Scorpio made for a happy ending.
Winner: PS4 - You can't beat an orchestra intro, Kojima, and a focus on pure gaming goodness.
