PS5: 10 Major Worries Sony MUST Address
5. The Overall Value Of PlayStation Plus
Back in the PlayStation 3 days, one of Sony's most attractive propositions was how PlayStation Network was offered for free.
It may not have been as comprehensive an online service as Xbox Live, but not having to pay was worthy of merit at the time. For PlayStation 4, this was sadly dropped in favour of paid online multiplayer, something which certainly discouraged many from buying the console at first.
PlayStation Plus membership delivers online multiplayer, discounts from the store, cloud storage for saved games and a couple of free games delivered right to the console every month.
It looks like paid online multiplayer is here to stay on Sony systems, but can they offer an answer to the Xbox Game Pass?
Since clawing their way back from the brink, Microsoft has worked to refine its online service, experimenting with new features and looking to provide extra value. Xbox Game Pass has utilised a newly established subscription based model similar to Netflix, one that doesn't require paying for Xbox Live Gold outside of online multiplayer.
Getting a constant stream of games for an affordable price has proven very successful for the brand, and Sony may have to follow suite if it wishes to keep its online service relevant.
