This next worry is a recent one; it has little to with the PlayStation 5 at the moment, but could become a massive thorn in the system's side in future.
The Last of Us Part 2 released just under a month ago and the reaction from the community has been very mixed, to say the least. With massive discussions surrounding its highly controversial story, the company's behaviour has been called into question. How will they approach the reviewing and dissection of future narratives?
With Naughty Dog being at the top of the industry, the direction they're choosing to take has been contentious for some. For The Last of Us Part 2's review embargo, they forbade discussing or displaying the second half of the game i.e. the parts that many were most concerned with.
On top of this, Sony has also been tossing around a spoiler-blocking patent for the PS5, which may damage future projects in the long-run. Storytelling is at the centre of the PlayStation strategy, but sealing off certain aspects of future releases on online platforms like YouTube and Twitch won't bode well for their fanbase, many of whom generate greater sales through free advertising.
