PS5: 11 Second-Party Studios Sony MIGHT Buy
8. Hello Games
Hello produced both the (initially) PS-exclusive titles Joe Danger and No Man's Sky. That latter title was a true media roller coaster ride for the studio - although, with last year, they managed to turn the bad-will around.
Why Likely:
Sony and Hello have had an on-and-off fling. The first Joe Danger was a stand-out retro indie exclusive on the PS3, back when Xbox had a monopoly on that entire market.
No Man's Sky was a massive deal when it was revealed at Sony's E3 2014 conference, with it being the first time the publisher had showcased an indie to such an extent during their conference show.
At present, Hello could certainly benefit from the guidance and financial stability of being Sony owned, while Sony could utilise the unorthodox edge of the studio.
Why Not:
The post-No Man's Sky fallout was not pretty, with everyone going for Hello's jugular after a slew of false advertising and non-show features released with the game.
Sony took a step back; they remained positive about the game and future updates, but also claimed no responsibility either. The sourness wasn't lost on the devs as they have brought the game to about every other platform since.
Still, the recent addition of PSVR support to Sky has hinted that the two have reached a positive note.
