PS5: 11 Second-Party Studios Sony MIGHT Buy

7. Bluepoint Games

Kojima Productions
Sony

Bluepoint is the remaster studio; they've taken what is a usual cash-grab for a developer and changed it into an actual art form. They don't just do a quick polish but update animations, smooth mechanics and refresh SD cutscenes.

They started the early 2010's craze of PS2 HD revamps with God of War Collection, and have been creating peak examples since with Uncharted: The Drake Collection to last year's ground-up refresh of Shadow of the Colossus.

Why Likely:

The studio has enjoyed an intimate partnership with Sony from the jump. Their first game, 2006's Blast Factor, was also the first downloadable title on PSN.

Since getting into the remaster business, they have (bar one) focused strictly on Sony's iconic backlog; from Solid Snake to Kratos. The company obviously has a major affection for the companies history and would be a welcome asset to the PS family.

Why Not:

The question is; what would the purpose of the acquisition be for?

To take a talented dev with close relations and put them into the triple-A space? Or have them pump out more top-notch revamps of legacy titles?

Either path is a legit choice, yet Sony has a history of gambling on a smaller studio to go big...would Bluepoint actually want to though?
