PS5: 8 Brand New Leaks And Rumours You Need To Know
8. Insomniac Games Might Be The First Of Many Acquisitions
Since the start of 2018, Microsoft have been making a point of acquiring new studios to prepare for the next-generation. So far, they've added heavy hitters like Double Fine, Obsidian and Ninja Theory to their ranks in an attempt to challenge Sony's dominance when it comes to high-quality exclusives.
However, the Playstation makers haven't yet responded by picking up their own stream of new developers, but that could well be changing. Recently, they purchased Insomniac after enjoying a working relationship with them for over 20 years, with Spider-Man and Ratchet and Clank being singled out as the major contributing factors.
Jim Ryan has spoken in the past about the team picking up new talent, but who could realistically join Insomniac on Sony's first-party slate? Remedy - who recently dropped Control - have long been rumoured, especially now that Microsoft no longer seem interested in them, while Kojima Productions could be on the cards depending on how well Death Stranding performs.
Sony has a stellar lineup of studios already, but with the company admitting they're prioritising quality over regular releases going forward, new studios could be drafted in to fill the gap.
