This came from AT&T potentially selling the gaming division of Warner Bros. to make back some funds, as many companies then stepped forward to "register interest".

At time of writing there haven't been any updates, but honestly, this would be a massive get for Microsoft. How they choose to handle distribution after acquiring these licenses is one thing (Minecraft remains multi-platform despite Microsoft having full ownership), but with Sony flexing their Spidey-muscles, Xbox could do with something similar.
Even though the current mandate is "games for everyone!" by way of cloud streaming and Game Pass, over time that service is going to need incredible titles and developers to keep people on it.
WB's gaming wing includes Rocksteady, NetherRealm, TT Games, WB Montreal and Avalanche, comprising the Arkham series, Shadow of Mordor/War, Mortal Kombat, Harry Potter and much more.
A future where Spidey is on PlayStation and Batman is on Xbox? It could very well go that way.
