Rage 2: 10 Reasons It's A Crushing Disappointment

1. The Nothing Story & TERRIBLE Ending

Okay, it's here where I genuinely think something went wrong across development. Where thanks to Avalanche and iD also having bigger projects on the go (Just Cause 4 and DOOM Eternal, respectively), Rage 2 was cut short, packaged and sent out regardless.

Because from front to back, you barely do anything.

An open-world filled with busywork would "make sense" alongside a story with meaningful plot development or fun character writing. However, from beginning to end you complete a tutorial, get told about three faction leaders you need to impress, do so across 7-10 hours... and that's it.

When Rage 2 cuts to credits, I guarantee you'll drop the controller in surprise. It literally fades to black mid-conversation as our heroes are escaping a collapsing building. They're walking, hunched over and wounded... but that's the resolution. Roll credits.

Maybe the game works as an open world-a-thon where you "make your own fun" by catapulting weightless cars across a wasteland or gunning down everyone for no reason other than "video games", but almost every "designed" part of Rage 2 feels like a total letdown, especially the overall structure.
