Rainbow Six Siege: 10 Glaring Problems Ubisoft Still Haven't Fixed

9. Mouse And Keyboard Players On Console

For console players of Rainbow Six Siege there is likely one glaring problem at the top of the list of glaring problems that, for obvious reasons, will not plague PC players and that problem is mouse and keyboard.

On console mouse and keyboard is not officially supported, however through use of a third-party adapter, console players can plug a keyboard and mouse into their console and play Siege by imitating the inputs of a controller.

For the uninitiated this may not seem like a big deal. However, when the game is so heavily reliant on fast aiming to get headshots a mouse gives a clear advantage over a control stick that limits the minor corrections that a mouse allows. It’s for this reason that playing the game on console with a mouse and keyboard is considered cheating by Ubisoft.

Despite this, the issue continues to plague console matchmaking and can make progressing through the upper ranks - where the problem is particularly widespread - incredibly frustrating.

Unfortunately there isn't much that Ubisoft can do here, and this problem actually rests on the shoulders of Microsoft and Sony. Both companies need to find a way to detect the adapters that these players are using in order to prevent them from having an unfair advantage in the game.

One possible option could be to offer official support for keyboard and mouse and then only matchmake based on input type, similar to Call of Duty Modern Warfare. This could even open up the opportunity for Cross-Play between platforms, which is also something that the Siege community has been eager for.
