Rainbow Six Siege Beta: 10 Big Things You Need To Know
9. Shield Usage Is A Little OP
When it comes to Siege shields are a bit of a double-edged sword. On one hand they're a vital component of the terrorist hunt mode - where players can coordinate to have their shield user take point and be shadowed by an assault rifle or shotgun user - but on the other they give a huge advantage to PVP combat. When crouched shield users are pretty much impenetrable. If you're lucky enough to lure them into a trap with C4 or toss a quick grenade you may be able to finish them off with a flank, but bar that if you see one of these guys coming around a corner you better turn and find the nearest exit. There really isn't an effective strategy to counter them at this time unless your team is greater in numbers, but figuring out how to balance them shouldn't be too difficult for Ubi's developers to suss before it releases. As I say, they're really fun to use when deployed cooperatively, but they mess with the PVP formula too much at this given time.
