Metacritic Score: 88 The Verdict: Not only the best game of February but an early contender for Game of the Year, XCOM 2 is about as visceral and intense as turn-based warfare gets. For one, the series remains as studiously difficult as ever: AI is absurdly smart and even the smallest mistake can mean entire mission failure, but XCOM 2 also serves up a massive suite of enhancements and perks, ensuring that you never feel incapable even when the odds are massively stacked against you. There's a disgustingly brilliant, time-draining level of detail in practically every aspect of the game, such that though it's often punishingly, hair-tearingly difficult, you'll be compelled to return to it time and time again. For fans of what came before, it'll be the sequel you were hoping for in every sense of the word. Which games were your favourite in February? Shout them out in the comments!
