With the Pokémon: Let’s Go games getting a fairly lukewarm response from fans due to their watered-down casual appeal, the thirst for a full-fat, hardcore Gen 8 Pokémon RPG is real.

We know virtually nothing about the game beyond the confirmation that a mainline Pokémon title is coming to the Switch late next year, as well as it following in the footsteps of Pokémon X and Y and Pokémon Sun and Moon while hewing away from the style of both Pokémon Go and the Let's Go games.

It goes without saying that this thing's going to fly off the shelves next Christmas, and there's a strong possibility it also ends up an all-timer for Switch owners.
